What are loafers?

The loafer is a slip-on shoe that made its way from Norwegian workwear and Ivy League campuses into the tailored wardrobe, and stayed. No laces, clean lines, a silhouette as much at home with a suit as with denim. Ours are made by hand in Spain, in full-grain calf and suede on leather or rubber soles.

Choosing between styles

The differences sit in the details. The penny loafer carries a saddle strap across the vamp; the tassel loafer adds a knotted detail; the horsebit loafer a metal bit. The ivy loafer – technically a penny loafer – has a lower vamp and a boxier, collegiate shape. The belgian is the outlier: a slim, flexible slipper with a French-bound apron.
